Biography —
Fernando was born in Brownsville, Texas and raised in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He completed his undergraduate studies and earned his B.S. in chemistry from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) in Spring 2024. During his undergraduate studies he conducted research in inorganic and organometallic chemistry under the guidance of Dr. Manar Shoshani, where he developed his skills as a synthetic inorganic chemist working with transition metal catalysts. Currently, Fernando is pursuing a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Kansas where he accepted the Madison & Lila Self Graduate Fellowship (2024-2028). When not in the lab, Fernando is an avid gamer who also enjoys cooking and reading web comics.
