Research

A diagram illustrating the interconnected fields of Molecular Synthesis, Electronic Structure, and Catalysis and Mechanism in chemical research.

We are motivated by the Science of Sustainability. Overarching goals of atom-economy and carbon neutrality drive our efforts in synthetic inorganic and organometallic chemistry. Our approach is carried out through the design and synthesis of well-defined multimetallic architectures that we propose will lead to new avenues in challenging molecular transformations towards sustainable catalysis. Studies of  stoichiometric reactivity, catalysis, alongside electronic structure will elucidate key mechanistic information and offer fundamental insight towards new sustainable transformations.

As a member of the Shoshani Lab you can expect to gain:

1) Rigorous air and water-sensitive techniques in synthetic chemistry including the use of gloveboxes and Schlenk lines

2) A thorough understanding of  reaction mechanism and experience in the necessary tools to support or preclude mechanisms (kinetics studies, isotope labelling studies, isolation of intermediates)

3) Expertise in a variety of physical inorganic spectroscopic techniques such as NMR and EPR spectroscopy, X-Ray crystallography, IR and Raman spectroscopy and many others

4) Colleagues and a mentor who will support your research efforts and ideas

5) A work environment where safety and inclusion are priorities
